Principal's Message

Dear New Kent Middle School Families,

It is with great enthusiasm to share that I will serve as the new Principal of New Kent Middle School. I am grateful for the opportunity to lead our school, and I am appreciative of New Kent County Public Schools for their dedication and commitment to our students. With the full return to in person learning on the horizon, this is a unique opportunity for our students, staff, and community to re-establish ourselves and create a school of excellence, together!

Here is a little information about me. I attended Virginia Tech and earned my Bachelor of Science degree in Education. During this time, I served in the United States Marine Corps Reserves as a combat engineer out of Roanoke, VA; where I was honorably discharged at the rank of Sergeant.

I am entering my 18th year in education at the middle school level. I began my journey in education as a Health & Physical Education teacher at Hungary Creek Middle School. In this position, I was able to follow my passion in teaching students to develop healthy habits and become physically active for a lifetime. During my time as a teacher, I also served in various roles including administrative aide, athletic director, head girls basketball coach, head boys basketball coach, and assistant baseball coach. I also had the opportunity to earn my master’s degree in Administration and Supervision through the University of Virginia.

In my first full time administrative role, I served as the assistant principal at The Academy at Virginia Randolph, a middle and high school alternative educational program. From there, I became the Associate Principal at John Rolfe Middle School; and then Elko Middle School. For the past five years, I have served as the Assistant Principal at New Kent Middle School. I have thoroughly enjoyed this role, and have grown fond of the students, families, and educators here in New Kent County. This is an outstanding community with rich traditions and a strong vision for the future. I am looking forward to our continued work together as we prepare our students to be successful contributors of society and life-long learners.

On a personal note, my wife and I have lived in Glen Allen, Virginia for 19 years. My son graduated high school in June, and will be attending Longwood University in the fall. My daughter will be attending Hungary Creek Middle School in the fall as a 6th grader, so this is a big transition year for our family. We understand the importance of community and the key role education plays in a child’s life.

I am a collaborative leader that believes in taking a student-centered approach while making decisions. I value feedback, and believe we are stronger as a school and as a community when we work together as a team. This is what the term “New Kent Strong” is all about! I look forward to working with the students and community to build a culture of perseverance, kindness, respect, and inclusiveness.

Thank you for your support, and as always, Go Lions!
