News & Announcements
New Kent County Public Schools has announced two key leadership appointments effective July 1, 2025. Mr. Sammy Fudge will return as Principal of New Kent Middle School, a role he previously held over a decade ago, bringing 20+ years of educational leadership experience and most recently serving as an Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction in North Carolina. Additionally, Ms. Megan Worrell has been promoted to Assistant Principal at New Kent Elementary School, advancing from her current roles as math interventionist and administrative intern, where she has led PBIS initiatives and earned recognition as the 2022 William G. Lowry Math Educator of the Year. Both appointments reflect the district's commitment to strong internal leadership development and experienced educational guidance.
The Virginia Department of Education offers key resources for families of students with disabilities, including the Special Education Parent Involvement Survey (open through December 12th, 2025), a two-part virtual training on "Critical Decision Points" (July 9th and 16th, 2025), and the 2025 Family Engagement Summit with in-person sessions in Glen Allen (June 7th) and Harrisonburg (August 9th). Free summer meals and snacks are available for all children and teens aged 18 and under through the SUN (Summer Nutrition) Meals program. No application is needed, and meals are offered at schools, parks, and other community locations.
